Artificial insemination, while highly beneficial, raises ethical and social questions in both human and animal contexts. In humans, issues around donor anonymity, consent, and the rights of offspring are widely discussed. Some individuals and couples prefer known donors to maintain transparency, while others choose anonymous donors to protect privacy.



In animal breeding, ethical considerations include animal welfare, genetic diversity, and the potential overuse of certain elite males. AI allows rapid multiplication of superior genetics, but excessive reliance on a limited number of males may reduce overall diversity and increase susceptibility to diseases. Responsible management is essential to maintain healthy populations and avoid unintended consequences.
